24/ In early 2015, some hunters found a broken cane fishing rod with a cork handle in the Hokuri Creek area. As far as I know Cork handle rods are dated as being around in this rod, or mathe 60’s and 70’s so this find is very interesting. I checked with a member of the family of one of those on board ZK-BMP and it was confirmed that two on board had fishing rods with them. This rod could have course just been from a fisherman that had visited the area many years ago, but it is an interesting find none-the-less. The position of the find is given as: S44° 25.210' E168° 07.195'
It was thought that it could have been washed down to this position from somewhere further up in the catchment area above where it was found.
