This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I  only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

Remember what I said in the last update... from a Report recorded by Jesse Miller?

Report from Craven township... “There was a fire observed to the SE in the hills

around 15 miles”

From Craven Township you can actually see this search area... (the yellow lines)...and it is to the SE!!!!

There is however, one problem with all this and that is all these projections are dependent on how accurate the height of the plane was seen. If it was below the height of the hill then it HAS to be in that area somewhere, whereas if it was above

the hill, it could be in a much larger area!

If anyone is keen on going in to look for it, please first contact Steven Oliver as this

land is privately owned and we need to have some kind of control over who goes in and when, otherwise if they start getting badgered from too many people asking for access, they are more than likely going to simply say “NO”.
By the time you are reading this, much of the area will have been searched anyway, and you will just be wasting your time going over already searched ground. Far better to be

productive and help out in searching an area that has not been searched.

Steven’s email address is steven_oliver@hotmail.com

Steven can also put you onto a cellphone App that can track your progress and save it as a kmz file to show where you have been on Google Earth and so long as you then send a copy of this file to him after your search, we can then add it to the file of where everyone has been.
Maybe we can then show all the areas searched on maybe Richard's Blogsite "The Search for VH - MDX" so that everyone can view progress? ... Just a thought at this stage!

Update 9th April 2019

This article is as much about eyewitness reports and the people that have gone out of their way to to track down these eyewitnesses and record what they saw than anything, but also about how to utilise and identify what they saw to enable the missing plane to be tracked. What I’m about to demonstrate is as a result of skills learnt from examing and interviewing hundreds of eyewitnesses and their reports over the decade and a half that I have been involved with looking for missing aircraft.

You’ll see, as you read, that when you get on to the right track of the aircraft, that all the eyewitness accounts will link nicely together like pieces in a jigsaw – confirming the track. I’ve seen this occur several times now from all the aircraft I’ve researched, and it is simply mind blowing, and exciting to see...
It has been said that eyewitness accounts are terribly unreliable and at times misleading, but I’ve found over the years that it all comes down to the skill of the interviewer in knowing the right questions to ask and how to ask them, and then how to interpret them.

It needs to be kept in mind that there were a lot of reports of aeroplanes flying around that night and these were obviously not only bought about from the flight of VH-MDX, but also from Cessna 402 VH-ESV, a F27 Friendship VH-FCD, a Boeing 747 Flight QF-26, the NSW Police Helicopter, and possibly even one out to the south-west - Piper PA28 Piper Cherokee VH-CNW.... the two airliners being asked to descend down to a low altitude to have a look.
