This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I  only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

Sighting Reports Page 5

24/ In early 2015, some hunters found a broken cane fishing rod with a cork handle in the Hokuri Creek area. As far as I know Cork handle rods are dated as being around in the 60’s and 70’s so this find is very interesting. I checked with a member of the family of one of those on board ZK-BMP and it was confirmed that two on board had fishing rods with them. This rod could have course just been from a fisherman that had visited the area many years ago, but it is an interesting find none-the-less. The position of the find is given as:  S44° 25.210' E168° 07.195'

It was thought that it could have been washed down to this position from somewhere further up in the catchment area above where it was found.

If anyone can shed some more light on the age of this rod, or maybe how it got there, please contact me.
