This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I  only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

You’ll note in the above image that I have added yet another two placemarks in the area south of the red line. One is the position of Haggard Creek, and the other is the position of the object I found in an old 1947 NZ Aerial Mapping aerial photo of which I spoke about at the beginning of this topic (page 1). Sure... I’ve seen the comments made by many people on various blog sites that think I’m just an ‘old crank’ with a vivid imagination that reads things into what could be just a couple of old dead trees,... and to a point I can see why they think that, but at least I put my money where my mouth is and go and try and check it out... not just sit on a couch and profess to be some sort of expert! I know they mean well though, so I completely understand. I’ve had another careful look at the image, and I sure can see what they are on about and I was about to write the image off completely...  until I noticed once again the

This is the GE Elevation profile of where he would have expected to be at 3000’ and the distance to Mt Galileo if flying directly towards Haggard Creek.

If he remained in the cloud or the cloud base was lower, he would not have had time to do much about it before crashing.

If he came out in the clear before then, he would have had time to turn away and that turn would have had to be to the left to

avoid the terrain. He was at that point over the Blackwater River and if you follow the river up a little, you come to the headwaters of it, and right there is King Solomon Stream.... where we first started searching!

strange unexplainable (?) scrape marks through the scrub behind the object, in particular the bottom one. This is what first drew my attention to this object. If anyone can explain to me what or how this was made, please let me know?  It is not a fault on the negative.

When we were last on the plateau above the site in King Solomon Stream, I took a series of photos that hopefully show the uncanny feeling you get that maybe once a long time ago (1944) a Corsair, boxed in the valley by cloud, came around the corner (in the middle of the photo) and tried to

do a turn to get back out again, but did not have the room and stalled in the turn into the valley below. I apologise for the quality of these photos as they were taken late in the afternoon when the sun was low, and the only way I was able to make a panorama of them was to glue them all together and unfortunately some of them buckled with the glue, but with the added ‘track’ I hope you can see what I mean? The hills in the distance in the middle of the photo are actually higher but are obscured by clouds.
