This Site is dedicated to all those families of the people that have tragically disappeared on flights in and around New Zealand. I  only hope that from all the effort in building this site and from all the effort of those taking part in this venture, that it will bear fruit in bringing ‘closure’ to their memories!

North Head Boeings.

In this later DOC supplied drawing shown in Martin's book (which I believe is from the 2009 Opus Report),  they have obviously presumed even further where this narrow gauge railway line went:

Why this area we now know the sleepers existed in was never shown, we will probably never know but according to some of the photos readily available at the time, this line direction was very well used. If they had done their homework properly, they would surely have included this area in the GPR Survey?

Harrysone, please forgive my ignorance in this, but I have always wondered how it would be possible to 'glue' this scoria together without showing evidence of the use of cement, and you may have answered that question. If each layer was heated and shoveled on top of the previous different coloured layer, then according to your advice it would weld together in-situ?  If this is correct, it actually sounds easier to do than what I previously thought!

Another thing is by what I've been told, the powers that be have always refused Ground Penetrating Radar to be used on this cliff face. If this is the case, what have they got to lose if there is nothing to hide?

While we are the subject of cemented scoria, notice what these three eye witnesses have to say:

“Further round from Torpedo Yard was another small entrance which also went in a long way and had a single grill door on it. It was about 10 ft above high water mark in the cliff below the houses.”

“Another small entrance/exit near the swimming pool which was at the base of the hill near the boat sheds”

“Round by Torpedo Bay I remember going into a small entrance hole which had a big Pohutakawa tree growing next to it. I walked through this tunnel 15 -20 yds before coming to a large room about 10-12' high.”

They may well be referring to this small entrance that is still there today:

Note the trench dug through the rock/oyster beds leading up to this entrance.
